Weekend Betting Preview: Arsenal battle Tottenham for North London supremacy

Domestic football takes centre stage again this weekend across Europe after the midweek round of European games. 

The Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League all started this week, but there is no room to dwell on the results as league football returns this weekend. 

The action starts today (Friday) ahead of an exciting lineup of games on Saturday and Sunday. 

And in our usual tradition, we take a look at some of the biggest games in Europe’s top leagues this weekend. 

LaLiga: Barcelona vs Celta Vigo 

Barcelona will hope to continue their good run of form when they host Celta Vigo at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. 

Barca, who are playing in a new home this season due to the reconstruction at Camp Nou, have been on a roll since their goalless draw against Getafe on the opening day of the season. 

Xavi Hernandez’s men have won their last four league games and started their Champions League campaign with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Roya Antwerp. 

The Catalan giants have picked up 13 points from a possible 15 this season but could temporarily go above Real Madrid with a win. 

They will feel confident in their chances against a Celta Vigo side with just four points from their first five matches. 

Celta have found it difficult to get going this season, only picking up four points from their opening five matches, which has left them down in 16th position in the table.

Rafael Benitez's side took just one point from their opening three games of the campaign, drawing with Real Sociedad either side of home losses to Osasuna and Real Madrid.

Celta did manage to secure all three points away to Almeria before the international break, but they were beaten 1-0 by Mallorca last weekend. 

Betting Preview: It is hard to see past a Barcelona win, priced at 1.29 at CasinoFans. 

Bundesliga: Bayern Munich vs VFL Bochum 

Bayern Munich lost their 100% start to the season last weekend after playing a 2-2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen, but they remain the team to beat in the German top flight. 

Thomas Tuchel’s men will hope to make it four wins out of five when they welcome VFL Bochum to the Allianz Arena. 

Although Bayern Munich have not really been at their best this season, they have managed to get the results. 

Thomas Tuchel’s men come into this clash on the back of a 4-3 win over Manchester United in the Champions League. 

Bayern should have no problem in their clash against Bochum, having won three of their last four games against Saturday’s opponents. 

The Bavaria giants’ home record is also one of the best in Europe, having lost just one of their last 25 Bundesliga matches at Allianz Arena. 

If anyone is going to beat Bayern at home for the second time in 26 matches, it is unlikely to be VFL Bochum. 

Bochum are one of six Bundesliga teams who are yet to win this season after four matches, but they have drawn each of their last three against Borussia Dortmund, Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, rescuing a point against the latter last weekend.

The prospect of Bochum opening their account to the new campaign on Saturday is slim, as they have won just one of their last 17 competitive meetings with Bayern – a 4-2 home win in February 2022 – while their last victory at the Allianz Arena was a 2-0 success back in August 1991 in a season when Bayern surprisingly slumped to a 10th-placed finish.

Bochum's away record also leaves a little to be desired as they have won just six of their last 36 Bundesliga matches on the road since returning to the top flight in 2021.

Betting Preview: Bayern Munich are priced at 1.12 to win at CasinoFans, so Bayern to win and over 2.5 may be a valuable option. 

Premier League: Arsenal vs Tottenham 

The biggest game this weekend across Europe is at the Emirates as Arsenal host Tottenham Hotspur in a highly-anticipated North London derby. 

Both teams have started the season in identical fashion with four wins and a draw from their first five games. 

However, Arsenal have history on their side, as they have not lost at home in the league against Spurs for 13 years. 

The Gunners come into the clash on the back of a 4-0 win over PSV in their first Champions League game in six years. 

But Spurs will feel confident in their chances after scoring two late goals in added time to come back from a goal down to beat Sheffield United in their last league game. 

Thanks to last weekend's astonishing fightback, Spurs have also kept up their streak of scoring at least twice in all of their Premier League games under Postecoglou so far, and not since the 1965-66 season have they sat on 13 points after five games, but few will need reminding of Antonio Conte's acrimonious exit several months after he also led Spurs to their best start to a season last year

Betting Preview: This will be a close game, but Arsenal should still get the job done.
