Verstappen, Crawford, and Chelsea dominate a big sporting weekend.
Verstappen and Crawford showed, once again, that they are miles ahead of their peers, while Chelsea won their first silverware of the season.
It was another great weekend of sporting action across the globe, with many memorable moments. There was a lot of football action, but the top moments came from other sports. Let's look at some of last weekend's most significant sporting highlights.
Max Verstappen dominates the Belgian Grand Prix.
Verstappen again showed that no driver comes close to him on the Formula 1 grid after another dominant win at the Belgian Grand Prix.
The Dutch driver was handed a five-place grid penalty before the race for exceeding his gearbox allowance. Nonetheless, that was not enough to stop the 24-year-old, who won the race from sixth position.
Verstappen started the race by gaining two laps on Ferrari's Carlos Sainz before overtaking race leader and Redbull teammate in Lap 17. It was plain sailing from then on as he won his eighth straight race in this year's Championship.
Terence Crawford dominates Eroll Spence Jr.
Meanwhile, earlier on Sunday, Terence Bud Crawford showed he is the number one pound-for-pound fighter in boxing after a dominant win over Eroll Spence Jr in Las Vegas. The fight between the two was most anticipated, with both fighters putting their belts on the line for the undisputed Welterweight title.
Spence started aggressively in the first round, with Crawford trying to figure out his rival. However, that was as good as it got for Spence as Crawford took control of the bout from the second round. The 35-year-old dropped Spence in the second round- the first time Spence has been dropped in his boxing career.
Crawford continued to torture his rival with his jabs and some beautiful combinations. The Nebraska native dropped Spence again (for a second time) in the seventh round. At that point, Spence had been severely beaten but showed great strength to continue.
The referee stopped the fight in the middle of the ninth round, with Spence on the ropes.
Chelsea wins the Premier League summer series.
Now for some football action!
Chelsea showed a glimpse of what to expect in the new season after they beat Fulham 2-0 to win the Premier League summer series in the USA. A tap-in from Christopher Nkunku just before half-time after good work from Carney Chukwuemeka sealed the win. It was Nkunku's third pre-season goal following the French striker's £52m move from RB Leipzig.
Victory means Chelsea won the first Premier League Summer Series - the pre-season tournament featuring Aston Villa, Brighton, Brentford, and Newcastle - without losing a game.
